Cognos reports record fourth

Licensing revenue at Cognos Inc. hits a company all-time high in the fourth quarter, reaching (all figures in $US) $130.5 million and adding to a 55% growth in earnings. Net earnings rose from $39.3 million ($0.43 per diluted share) to $60.9 million ($0.67). The leading business software provider reports $284.5 million in overall revenue for its final quarter of fiscal 2007, a 12% hike from the $253.1 million it totaled in the same period last fiscal year. Revenue for year was $979.3 million, an increase of 10% from 2006 when revenue came in at $877.5 million. Net earning for fiscal 2007 was $115.7 million, a 7% improvement over last year’s $108.6 million. “We continued to advance our leadership position this quarter with a very strong license revenue performance of $92 million from Cognos 8, core BI license revenue growth of 12 percent for both the quarter and the year, and solid execution on large contracts,” says Cognos CEO Rob Ashe. “Overall, I remain very confident about the strength of our business and the scope of our opportunity as we move into fiscal year 2008.”
