General Dynamics wins military contract

General Dynamics Canada wins a $30-million contract to supply the Canadian Forces’ Vital Point Bio-Sentry Program with its real-time biological weapon detection system. The company’s VP Bio Sentry system detects aerosolized biological agents before they can harm soldiers and identifies the biological substances. Earlier versions have been used by Canadian and international military customers for more than six years. Research will be carried out at General Dynamics’ facilities in Ottawa and Calgary. The equipment will begin shipping in 2008.
