Sohail%20Khan.jpgis appointed president and chief executive at SiGe Semiconductor as the company focuses on moving to the forefront of the market for RF front-end solutions and GPS receivers. “[SiGe Semiconductor] presents an exciting professional opportunity as one of the few private wireless semiconductor companies to successfully compete against much larger rivals in the consumer electronic marketplace,” he says. Sohail has worked in the communications and semiconductor industries for more than a quarter century. Prior to coming to SiGe he was an entrepreneur in residence and operating partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he was responsible for evaluating communications deals and providing assistance to portfolio companies. Before that, while at Agere Systems, he helped execute an IPO rollout before the circuit components company was acquired by Lucent Technologies. His other former positions include executive vice president of Infrastructure Systems and president of Lucent’s integrated circuits/microelectronics division. Sohail sits on the board of directors at both global optical solutions company LightPath Technologies and GainSpan Corporation, a venture funded private company. He holds an MBA from University of California at Berkeley and a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering in Lahore, Pakistan.
