COM DEV opening shop stateside

Space hardware subsystems maker COM DEV launches US operations with the purchase of a US$8.75 million production facility in California. ComDev.jpgThe Cambridge, Ontario, company, which has an optical design centre in Ottawa, will use its new 46,000 square foot space in El Segundo as the engineering and production base of COM DEV USA. The company aims to gain access to the massive US Government space market, larger than the space market, state funded and commercial both, in all other countries combined. The company says that its access to US government space contracts, 98% of which stay in the country, has been until now “limited by geography.” Still, COM DEV has secured a number of US military orders for its passive microwave equipment. The company says its objective is to establish COM DEV USA as the leading US domestic supplier of passive microwave equipment to the military and civil space markets.
