SiGe raises $20 million
Radio frequency front-end solutions supplier SiGe Semiconductor raises $US20 million in expansion round financing to fund marketing and expand product lines supporting Wi-Fi, WiMAX and GPS. The deal adds Samsung Ventures to its roster of investors, which includes 3i Venture Capital and Prism VentureWorks among six returning investors. “Our objective with this funding is to expand our customer base to drive an increase in our market share across key segments,” said Sohail Khan, CEO of SiGe. “Expanding our footprint in the market will drive profitable growth and will fuel the development of industry-leading products for emerging wireless applications.” SiGe, whose revenue rose by $17.6 million to $49.4 million in 2006, has shipped more than 160 million integrated circuits to customers and partners such as Broadcom, Nintendo and Samsung.
