New media platforms developer Distil Interactive receives $2.2 million in funding from the GrowthWorks Canadian Fund to support product development. The Series A financing follows a previous investment of $700,000 from the GrowthWorks Commercialization Fund and will allow Distil to continue R&D of its automated assessment technologies currently being used for personnel certification by such customers as the Canadian Standards Council and National Quality Institute. It will also support the release of the company’s authoring tool, which provides a platform for users to create their own content. Formerly known as I Squared Learning, Distil makes game-based E-learning platforms that allow certification and training bodies to more consistently and accurately teach and assess skills and behaviour. The company was a finalist for Most Promising Startup at the 2007 OCRI Awards.
