EMS expanding Ottawa operations with buyout of DSpace

EMSSatcom.jpgEMS Technologies agrees to pay $US5.7 for Adelaide, Australia satellite company DSpace, which it will merge with its Ottawa-based division EMS Satcom in order to take advantage of the combined, complementary strengths of both. DSpace’s key product is a low-cost software-defined radio that enables a range of satellite communication platforms to be continuously upgraded as technology advances. No layoffs are expected at either EMS Satcom or DSpace as a result of the transaction, slated to be finalized in early July.
