IBM buying Watchfire
IBM is acquiring privately held Watchfire Corp. for an undisclosed sum. The Massachusetts-based security software company, with Ottawa operations employing about 80 people, will be integrated under Big Blue’s software quality management brand Rational. Watchfire makes security and compliance testing software for web applications, which will allow IBM's customers to develop more secure software products and processes. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2007.
