Med-Eng launches next-generation helmet for bomb disposal techs

Personal protective equipment maker Med-Eng Systems Inc. is marketing what is claims is the first protective helmet designed to allow bomb disposal technicians to work without interference from hostile electromagnetic activity. Med-Eng.JPGBuilt with assistance from the Canadian Research and Technology Initiative and funding from the RCMP, the EOD 9A helmet actively shields its on-board support systems from disruptive radio waves created by electronic counter-measures equipment. The headgear, which operates in concert with Med-Eng platforms including the EOD 9 suit, personal cooling systems and remote handling tools, is currently being assessed for use by coalition forces.
