Mosaid selling semiconductor IP business

Mosaid Technologies Inc. takes another step towards becoming a pure-play patent licensing company, deciding to put its Mosaid-logo.JPGsemiconductor IP business under the gavel. The news comes just a few months after Mosaid completed the sale of its test equipment systems division to Teradyne Inc. for $17.8 million. The transaction is expected to impact about twenty employees, though it’s unclear whether the specialized design staff will be terminated or picked up by the business’s new owner. The company currently employs 57 people, about half the number it had before the Teradyne sale. Mosaid recently enjoyed a 24.5% increase in revenue to $12.2 million in Q4. Net income nearly tripled to $9 million ($.81 cents per diluted share) from $3.1 million ($.27 cents per share) in the same period a year earlier. Profits for the full year were $24.7 million ($2.18 per share), up 59.4 % from net income in fiscal 2006. Revenue from the IP licensing business jumped by 55.6% to $59.9 million.
