Scholarship awarded

Randy Mack, VP of development at Grantium Inc., receives a $59,500-scholarship created by OCRI and uOttawa’s Telfer School of Management for the university’s executive MBA program. Chosen from a list of five finalists for his “extensive work and managerial experience and strong academic background,” Mack is the first beneficiary of the new scholarship, which provides an employee of an OCRI member company with the financial aid to further their education so they might advance a career within Ottawa’s knowledge-based industries. “There has been a great deal of discussion surrounding the supply of management talent available to Ottawa’s knowledge-based companies. This scholarship represents one way in which we are addressing the need to sustain our critical talent pool,” says Jeffrey Dale, president and CEO of OCRI. “The number and quality of submissions that we received indicates to us that this type of opportunity is welcomed by our member companies and their employees.” The OCRI/ University of Ottawa Telfer School of Management Executive MBA scholarship is sponsored by OCRI’s Partners in Prosperity, including The Ottawa Citizen, Telecom Ottawa, Spectra FX, and Ramius Corporation.
