Wi-LAN to licence everything to Fujitsu
Wi-LAN Inc. signs a
term sheet with Fujitsu, a preliminary step to the Japanese computing and communications behemoth licencing the entire Wi-LAN patent portfolio under Wi-LAN’s early licence program. A signed formal agreement would also see Fujitsu extend its licence from products compliant with the WiMAX. Under the proposed deal, Fujitsu will pay cash for the licence, and also transfer patents to the Ottawa company. Wi-LAN is in the process of obtaining an independent appraisal of these unspecified patents. Wi-LAN’s early licence program gives preferential rates to licencees who sign on by the program’s July 31st deadline.
