Acer signed

Wi-LAN licenses it coveted V-chip WiLan.jpgpatents to Taiwanese computer maker Acer Inc., the world’s fourth-largest vendor of brand name PCs. In addition to licencing the patents on a running royalty basis through to their expiration in 2016, Acer has agreed to pay a retroactive fee for past Canadian sales of Acer products using the V-chip parental control technology, the Ottawa company reports. Employing 5,300 people, Acer had revenue of US$11.32 billion in 2006. Wi-LAN has to date signed 112 licensing agreements for its Canadian and US V-chip patents.
