More V-chip licences
Wi-LAN Inc. licences its V-chip patents to three more companies. The Ottawa-based firm is
providing its US patent 5,828,402 to both Korea’s Homecast Co., a maker of set-top box products, and Manhattan Digital, a US-based satellite equipment provider. The company has also struck a licencing deal for its Canadian patent 2,179,474 with China’s Qingdao Haier Electronics Co. Ltd. Wi-LAN has now signed 115 licences for its parental control technology patents, which the company acquired last July.
