Security solutions provider Cloakware is being bought by Amsterdam-based software firm Irdeto for US$72.5. The deal will give Cloakware, headquartered in Virginia and maintaining significant R&D operations in Ottawa, access to a broader customers base through Irdeto’s European and Asian operations. In turn, Irdeto will now have an established connection to Cloakware.JPGCloakware’s high-profile clients such as Texas Instruments, Pioneer Electronics and Vodafone. The two companies have a three-year relationship which has resulted in their co-developing several security solutions for digital video and Internet protocol networks. Both have indicated that all Cloakware’s 80 Ottawa employees will remain with the company and that Cloakware would in fact be increasing their number locally. Cloakware’s technology protect more than a billion software applications and the assets of some of the world’s largest companies.
