SIRIUS project
Mapping and geotracking visualization solutions provider Gallium is awarded a contract by DRS Technologies Canada to develop control and display workstation software for SIRIUS, an -infrared search and track system built on Gallium’s flagship product InterMAPhics. Ottawa-based Gallium, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, says the software will enable high-performance, integrated situational display based on open architecture, commercial off the shelf (COTS) technology. Says Ranald McGillis, president, “Gallium is uniquely positioned to provide COTS visualization components and services to create custom display applications that provide maximum information, minimum clutter, and are operationally efficient and effective.” Used for a variety of ship missions, including search and rescue, air operations, navigation and patrol, SIRIUS was co-developed by DRS Technologies Canada and Thales Naval Nederland.
