Product integration
Body armour maker Pacific Safety Products Inc. forms a strategic alliance with Virginia-based QinetiQ North America to create an integrated sniper detection product for Canadian military and law enforcement personnel. Kelowna-based PSP, which will relocate headquarters alongside its Arnprior manufacturing operations in the fall, says it has signed an exclusive agreement to market the new product, a marriage of QinetiQ’s Ears gunshot localization systems and PSP’s armour and soldier system products. "We continue to develop and deliver the most advanced soldier equipment in the world," said PSP chief executive David Scott. “Threats against our military and law enforcement officers are evolving and these exclusive agreements provide us with product lines that meet those threats and should open up new channels for growth as part of our strategy to incorporate unique technologies into soldier equipment.” The Ears sensor, which can pinpoint sniper fire within 400 milliseconds, is currently being used by U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.
