Reciprocal deal
Spartan Bioscience Inc. enters an agreement with Maryland-basrd TrimGen Corp. to sell diagnostic tools which integrate the companies’ respective products. Ottawa-based Spartan, which makes and markets DNA analyzers for non-batch testing of infectious diseases, says the deal will have TrimGen developing real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) chemicals and kits that will run on the Spartan DXTM device. In turn, Spartan will sell TrimGen’s eQ-PCR products, which test blood samples for infectious pathogens, in Canada. “The Spartan DX is a new instrument for on-demand molecular diagnostics. It is fast, affordable and easy-to-use. By adding TrimGen's optimized real-time PCR assays, our customers get a complete solution for rapid DNA testing,” says Spartan CEO Dr. Paul Lem.
