$50-million upgrade
Gatineau’s SolaCom Technologies is tapped by Nav Canada to assist with a $50-million upgrade of the VHF radios used by airports across the country. The operation will see SolaCom’s communication tools, which enable interoperability over any network infrastructure in air traffic control, used to upgrade the radios used to provide information, advice and instruction to pilots who fly in Canada’s skies. Nav Canada, owner and operator of Canada’s air navigation system, says more than 2000 aging Garrett VHF radios at 320 sites across the country will be replaced with the new technology over the next eight years.
