Energate Inc., the Ottawa-based maker of smart thermostats, teams up with California’s Trilliant Inc. to create products for managing energy use and output. Energate’s technology will be combined with Trilliant’s platform, which has applications that feature time-of-use rates, critical peak pricing, and consumer messaging. Energate’s solutions are designed to meet security and environmental concerns by helping to reduce reliance on power plants and avoid blackouts.
