Bridgewater Systems’ subscriber data management solution is chosen by Scartel LLC, a Russian mobile Internet provider, to help manage customers in Moscow and St. Petersburg. “Russia is the leading WiMAX market in Europe and Scartel is in a unique position as it already holds a large number of WiMAX licences across Russia and is the first operator in the region to go to market with a mobile WiMAX solution,” says Ihsen Fekih, Bridgewater’s managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. “The deployment will enable strong competitive advantage, providing Scartel with the ability to accelerate and de-risk WiMAX service introduction, and to differentiate, with innovative service models such as over-the-air provisioning and casual access.” Bridgewater’s solution will support subscriber authentication, authorization and accounting services for Scartel, and help launch new services over the company’s WiMAX network. Scartel hopes to have its new service for Moscow and St. Petersburg and adjoining areas, with a total population of more than 20 million, in place by the end of the year.
