Trial in China
Thermal Energy International Inc. is installing its emissions-reducing technology in a trial project at the Guangzhou Yuanchun Cogeneration Co. power plant in Guangdong, China. Part of a joint venture with the South China University of Technology,
the deployment of Thermal’s THERMALONOx process will demonstrate its ability to remove nitrogen oxide from the coal-fired facility’s flue gas stream. “This real-world application of the THERMALONOx technology is being conducted to provide us with data on determining the optimal mix of chemistry to remove NOx from the flue gas stream used under different loads, and most importantly, to validate the cost-effectiveness of the process as a commercial application,” says Thermal’s chief technology officer Rob Triebe. Thermal Energy says it expects the installation to take up to three months, and anticipates testing to last a further several months.
