Lenovo Group is moving its Toronto call centre operations to Morrisville, North Carolina, home to the Chinese PC maker’s North American headquarters. Affecting about 150 jobs, the centre’s closing is part of a restructuring plan that will see the company terminate some 2,500 positions (about 11% of its workforce) worldwide due to a slumping demand for computers. A spokesperson for Lenovo says all severed staff at the TO facility will receive compensation commensurate with their length of employment.
