UW collects on Harper's pledge

WATERLOO— Stephen Harper’s government follows through on its election pledge to provide $50 million to the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing. The money is allocated toward doubling the current number of Quantum Computing scholars and the completion of a campus home for the Institute. In addition to the initial federal provision, the funding will be matched by $50 million from the provincial government and a further $50 million from Research in Motion co-CEO Mike Lazaridis and his wife Ophelia.
