RIM records employee calls
BlackBerry maker Research in Motion admits that it records all employee conversations on the company’s internal network in the interest of
safeguarding intellectual property. In a recent media interview, RIM chief information officer Robin Bienfait (pictured in RIM photo) says that although all internal communication is logged, the action doesn't constitute a breach of privacy. She adds that because RIM’s most important asset is its IP, “We have to trust that [employees] guard it.” To maintain security, the company insists that employees use only BlackBerry devices for work, which allows the company to monitor all internal communication.
