Calian gets $195 million deal

OTTAWA – Calian Technologies Ltd. signs a nine-year, $195-million contract with the Department of National Defence to supply continued Calian-logo148X21.JPGtraining and support for the Directorate of Land Synthetic Environments (DLSE), headquartered at CFB Kingston. Calian says the deal with DLSE, which maintains satellite operations across Canada, is initially worth just more than $100 million for five years of simulation training for army personnel. The contract also contains a number of options for an additional four years of services, for a total of approximately $195 million. Expected to start June 1, the new deal will replace Calian’s existing contract with DLSE, which had a remaining backlog of approximately $23 million for two more years of training and support.
