RIM reports record 4th, year
WATERLOO – Research In Motion Limited (RIM) posts
big increases for Q4 and fiscal 2009, a year in which the company ships its 50-millionth BlackBerry device. Revenue for the fourth quarter (all figures in US$) jumps to $3.46 billion, up 84% from $1.88 billion in the same period last year. Net income for the quarter is $518.3 million, or $0.90 per share diluted, compared with $412.5 million, or $0.72 per share diluted. Revenue for the year ended Feb. 28 is also up 84%, from $6.01 billion last year to $11.07 billion. Year-over-year net income is $1.89 billion, or $3.30 per share diluted, an increase of 46.3%.
