Spartan enters partnership to develop HIV test
OTTAWA – Spartan Bioscience teams up with Atlanta-based Cooperative Diagnostics in an effort to co-develop new DNA testing technology for HIV and AIDS for the developing world. Ottawa-based Spartan, which makes DNA analyzers, says the partnership agreement will see the company pair its DX-12 DNA analyzer with Cooperative Diagnostics’ custom HIV-1 RNA blood-screening kit. The firms hope to develop a test that will cost less than US$10, ensuring that it’s affordable for people in poorer nations. Click here for more information.
