Wi-LAN purchases wireless portfolio

Wi-LAN%20Colour%20Logo115X56.jpgOTTAWA — Just days after raising $18 million for intended acquisitions, Wi-LAN Inc. buys a portfolio of more than 125 wireless patents from San Diego-based WiMAX technology maker NextWave Broadband Inc., a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless. The company now has more than 670 issued and pending patents, the bulk of which are related to wireless technology. Wi-LAN says it will make a payment to NextWave in the third quarter but did not disclose the cost of the purchase. Click here for more information.
