RIM enters Fortune list in first place

WATERLOO – Research In Motion tops Fortune RIM-cropped.jpgmagazine’s list of the world’s fastest-growing companies, while fellow Waterloo firm Open Text takes 15th spot in the prestigious ranking. The BlackBerry maker is the only Canadian tech company to crack the top 10 spots on the list, which this year includes businesses from outside the US for the first time. With share values averaging an 84% rise and revenue up an average of 77% over the last three years, the company places 38 spots ahead of consumer electronics powerhouse Apple, maker of the iPhone and aggressive rival in the handheld device market. Business software maker Open Text weighs in with a three-year average EPS and revenue growth of 132% and 27% respectively.
